From Coffee to Community: Pink Sugar Coffee Becomes a Sparks Staple
On a busy stretch of Prater Way in Sparks, a bright pink coffee truck is turning heads and building a loyal following.
Pink Sugar Coffee Reno, located at 1923 Prater Way, first opened in July 2025 and hasn't even hit its one-year mark yet. Still, the coffee truck already has a steady group of regulars who show up for both the drinks and the experience.
The business is owned by cousins Yajaira and Valerie Valenzuela. Valerie also owns the “El Cantarito” food truck and the Tipsy Bar & lounge, right next door, making the area a lively and welcoming space for the community. Together, the two have created more than just a coffee stop; they've built a place where people gather, take photos, and try something new each month.
“Once a month, we will do a different theme,” Yajaira explained.
That's one of the biggest reasons customers keep coming back. Pink Sugar Coffee is known for transforming its truck with creative themes and specialty menus. They say their most popular theme so far has been “Banana Dream,” but each month brings something different.
“Our Banana Dream theme is definitely what we are most known for,” Yajaira said.
Recently they hosted a Valentine’s themed weekend called “Sweethearts Weekend: A Love Letter to Minnie Mouse.” The menu featured playful drink names like “PS I Love You,” “Main Street Brew,” “Mickey’s Secret Admirer,” “Minnie’s Matcha Kiss,” and more. One fan favorite, “Daisy’s Cupid Dream,” had customers posing in the themed photo area while sipping bright green matchas and enjoying the cozy setup.
Before that, the truck leaned into pop culture with a “Benito Bowl” theme inspired by Bad Bunny during Super Bowl weekend, showing how the business mixes creativity, culture, and coffee all in one.
Pink Sugar Coffee doesn’t just serve drinks. Customers can also grab waffles, churros, and conchas, adding a sweet treat to their visit.
Business has grown so quickly that the owners purchased a second van in October 2025. This van is mainly used for catering and on-the-go events, another sign that their business model is expanding fast.
Pink Sugar Coffee is open Wednesday through Friday from 4:30 pm to 9 pm and Saturday/Sundays from 9 am- 5 pm. And if the steady lines are any sign, this little pink truck on a busy Sparks street is just getting started.
