Three Dead in GSR Shooting, While Suspect Is Reported to be in Critical Condition

A third person died at the hospital bringing the total of fatalities in Monday morning’s GSR shooting to three at this point with three injured.

The suspect, an adult male, was shot by police and remains hospitalized. One officer suffered minor injuries, most likely caused by glass fragments, but was not shot.

According to police, the suspect who had been pacing around the northwest side of the casino property produced a gun and pointed it at people, and after it initially malfunctioned shot five people in the valet area, killing one instantly and another who died at the hospital, with two others in critical condition and the fifth later released.

Police say the suspect then went north through the parking lot where he was confronted by a GSR security guard, firing on him, with the guard returning fire.

Police say the suspect then opened fire at a driver killing them in their vehicle.

At that point, police say they arrived on the scene, and a patrol car was shot at, before multiple officers opened fire, striking the suspect, who has been described as being in critical condition.

RPD chief Kathryn Nance said it took RPD officers just two and half minutes to respond to the reports of an active shooter at around 7:25 a.m.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
