Sparks Police: Suspect in Mass GSR Shooting Has Died

As we were previously told by multiple sources on condition of anonymity but had not been able to confirm, the suspect in Monday’s deadly GSR shooting, 26-year-old Dakota Hawver has died.

He had previously been listed as hospitalized and in critical condition after being shot by officers Monday morning.

Sparks Police which is leading the investigation made the announcement on Thursday, without any details.

The shooting left three people dead,  33-year-old Justin Aguila of Chatsworth, California, 33-year-old Andrew Canepa of Newbury Park, California, and 66-year-old Angel Martinez, who was a Sparks local.

According to court documents, the Nevada Attorney General’s office had initiated a case against Hawver more than a year ago with developments just a few days before the shooting.

During a recent hearing, a judge had raised Hawver’s monthly child support payment from $103 to $582, with a reported income of $21 per hour for a 40-hour workweek.

The court had also established a payment plan for Hawver to address $5,575 in unpaid child support and genetic testing costs.
