Over 150 Local Workers Will be Laid Off due to SA Automotive Shutdown in Reno

More than 150 local employees, including operators, shipping clerks, technicians, production and maintenance employees, are being laid off as SA Automotive Reno has announced its plans to shut down its Echo Avenue location, effective October 7th.

“Employee separations are expected to be permanent. Employees are not represented by a union or other collective bargaining representative,” a letter to Mayor Hillary Schieve from yesterday indicates.

The letter says the permanent shutdown is due to “loss of business.”

“SA Automotive is a full-service interior trim supplier whose team of experts will partner with you to provide the most practical and technical solution possible,” its website indicates.

Its other locations are listed in Livonia, Michigan, Owosso, Michigan, Webberville, Michigan and Pueblo, Mexico.
