Council Members Raised the Most in Early 2026 in Reno Mayor's Race, Including From Those With Recent Business Before Them

Current council members running for the Reno mayor’s seat got the most money in the January to March fundraising period with Kathleen Taylor receiving about 100K, according to how we tabulated documents from today, and Devon Reese about 76k, with both of them receiving substantial amounts from those with recent business in front of council, including billionaire Aces owner Herb Simon who gave $5,000 to each and Heinz Ranch Land Company who gave $2,500 to each.

Kate Marshall was in third with 66k but with lots of individual donors including $3000 from Maggie Rivera, $5000 from Diana Bennett, $1000 from Chuck Cook, $2500 from Jennifer Satre, $1000 from Edgar Flores, as well as $3000 from the Washoe Education Association, $2500 from the Atlantis Casino and $2500 from Local 169.

Eddie Lorton had the least with $25k, but with many individual donors including $5000 from Albert Nelson, $2500 from Kelly Awtrey, and $1500 from Majid Jan Fada.

Taylor in first place also got $2,500 from Javelin Properties, $5,000 from Dolan Toyota, $2500 from Hamilton Properties, $2,000 from Greenstreet Development, $1500 from Lepori Construction, $4,500 from Wood Rodgers, $2500 from Peppermill Casinos, $2500 from Core Construction, $1000 from Metcalf Builders, $500 from Cindy Carano, $2500 from Q and D Construction, $500 from Amodei for Nevada and $2000 from Jeff Jacobs. She also gave 10K to Granite Construction as part of her campaign expenses.

Devon Reese received lots of out of state money including $5000 from Judith Siegel in Las Vegas, $4,500 from Wood Rogers in Sacramento, $5,000 from the Fujisan Franchising Group in Santa Fe Springs, CA, $5,000 from Select Electric in Anaheim, and $5,000 from Neal Electric in California.

He also received $1,000 from Greg Kidd, $2,500 from Core West, $2,000 from Greenstreet Development, $2,500 from Hamilton Properties, $250 from Shea’s Tavern, $250 from Jerry Snyder and $1,000 from Alpine Strategies.

The four are seen as the favorites in a tight race to replace outgoing Mayor Hillary Schieve, in the position since winning a mayor’s race in 2014.
