Lesser Known Reno Mayoral Candidates Make Some Noise With Websites and Large Donations
Lesser known candidates than the top four whose early 2026 donations we looked into yesterday, Kathleen Taylor, Kate Marshall, Eddie Lorton and Devon Reese, are making their own noise, from a new website to their own large donations.
One candidate in the Reno race Greg Nuttle raised zero dollars in the first three months but did start his website "Nutt for Reno."
The first item there is a bullet point on Flock cameras: "Our community is being forced into a police state. Flock cameras are proliferating and damaging our fundamental right to an anonymous and free lifestyle. The City of Reno has recently agreed to spend $100,000 for two surveillance cameras. To what end?" it indicates.
“A stronger downtown starts with compassion and accountability. I support services that help people get back on their feet, paired with clear expectations and measurable results. I live downtown. I work downtown. I love downtown. It is a neighborhood that we all should embrace, not be afraid of,” Nuttle added in a Downtown Reno section.
Another candidate, Tim Ross actually raised over 38k in the first three months of 2026, which was 13k more than Lorton, including $5000 from the Washoe County Deputies Association, $5000 from someone in Oklahoma, $5000 from VSR Industries and $5000 from JP Wealth Management both with addresses in Las Vegas.
“A trusted and proven leader, Tim served eleven years on the Executive Board of the Washoe County Sheriff Deputies Association, most of that time as President. He later led the Supervisory Deputies Association. During this time, Tim also served on the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) Board. He spent 7.5 years on the Board that included 4 years as Board Chair. Additionally, Tim participated in numerous sessions at the Nevada Legislature as a registered lobbyist,” his own website indicates.
Other lesser known candidates are Jesse Razzo, previously listed as working for a demolition company, John Zink who recently posted a video saying the “mayor is back on the campaign trail”, using the slogan “Let’s Make Jackpot Great Again,” and another lesser known candidate, Corinthia M. Yancey, whose YanceyforRenoMayor.Com page leads to a page with tips on renting a car.
Current council members running for the Reno mayor’s seat got the most money in the January to March fundraising period with Kathleen Taylor receiving about 100K, according to how we tabulated documents from today, and Devon Reese about 76k, with both of them receiving substantial amounts from those with recent business in front of council, including billionaire Aces owner Herb Simon who gave $5,000 to each and Heinz Ranch Land Company who gave $2,500 to each.
Kate Marshall was in third with 66k but with lots of individual donors including $3000 from Maggie Rivera, $5000 from Diana Bennett, $1000 from Chuck Cook, $2500 from Jennifer Satre, $1000 from Edgar Flores, as well as $3000 from the Washoe Education Association, $2500 from the Atlantis Casino and $2500 from Local 169.
Eddie Lorton had the least among the top four, and less than Ross, with $25k, but with many individual donors including $5000 from Albert Nelson, $2500 from Kelly Awtrey, and $1500 from Majid Jan Fada.
