Experiencing Chickadee Ridge After A Recent Snowfall
Chickadee Ridge never fails to disappoint.
On my recent trip up the trail, I got a chance to say hello to some squirrels and crows alongside the famous chickadees.
The snow level is manageable to hike right now without snowshoes, however, I did sink pretty deep in some instances. As long as you stick to the path and follow where everyone has already treaded, you should be on solid snow.
The views are beautiful during this time of year. Feeling the warmth of the sun in the chilly snow filled trail is an amazing experience everyone should have. Not to mention the beautiful view of all of Lake Tahoe at the top of the hike that makes the journey even more worthwhile.
Just a 45 minute drive or less from Reno, this makes for the perfect place to getaway for a day into nature. Just go up Mt. Rose Highway and you'll be there in no time!
Make sure to pack snacks and water to stay fueled and hydrated on your journey. If more snowfall happens, consider renting out some snowshoes for your journey up at one of the rental shops along the road.
And don’t forget your unsalted sunflower seeds for the chickadees!
