A local alerted us to discussions about the Stone House Cafe on Arlington Ave. and how people are allegedly treated when they arrive there, following TikTok videos by Lillian Conley @lillianconley97 who says she’s a recent transplant from Portland.
"Is there anywhere in the Reno area that has a similar brunch on the porch kind of vibe like Stonehouse Café," Conley, who is documenting her daily experiences in Reno, asks as part of the teaser text to a video posted one day ago with 14k views and counting.
"As much as I’m sure that if I were this woman, it would hurt my heart to read all of the negative stories about me, I like to say that if you don’t like people talking about the way you acted, maybe you shouldn’t have acted that way," she writes concerning the first point of contact at the Stone House Cafe.
"It’s one thing to mess up, to have a bad day, to make a mistake, and apologize. We all screw up! It’s another thing entirely to behave the way she does, especially in the hospitality industry. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and figured she just had an off day, but based on everyone else’s stories, that’s clearly not the case!" Conley added in the teaser text.
"We made reservations an hour ahead of time saw there was a long wait and went to check in," the local who alerted us to the video added of her own recent experience going to the casual dining spot which has popular breakfasts served until 3 p.m., as well as lunch and dinner in a European garden setting.
"The hostess kept walking past us standing at the front, and when we finally asked how long the wait was she asked our name. We gave her the name for the reservation we made an hour ago and said she didn’t have that name, so she put us down to be seated right away. After calling four or five groups we asked her if we were any closer, she was very dismissive and said 'oh yeah I’ll get to you.' And it was half an hour after our reservation. The dining experience was fine, waiters were fine it’s just the hostess attitude really sits with people for their entire experience which takes away from the beauty of the place.
If an owner can’t work their establishment with respect, they need to hire a GM and let them handle the responsibility," they concluded as a recommendation.
