Joe Rodriguez Fired As State Fire Marshal, Even as Sparks City Council and Devon Reese Remain Mum

Sparks city councilman Joe Rodriguez has been fired as Nevada’s state fire marshal following a DUI arrest in the early hours on February 21st.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety announced the termination was effective Feb. 25th, adding it “remains committed to professionalism, accountability and the continued delivery of services to Nevada’s communities and partner agencies.”

Rodriguez took part earlier this week in a Sparks city council meeting virtually without video, but there was no mention by anyone of his arrest.

A few hours before the DUI arrest, Reno councilman and mayoral candidate Devon Reese had tagged Rodriguez and posted a photo of the two with another Reno councilman Miguel Martinez on social media, smiling at a Friday night rodeo event at the Reno Events Center, before the photo and tag were taken down from the post without explanation.
