Reno PD Police Chief On Administrative Leave Amid Investigation Over "Compliance Matters"
Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance and five other Reno PD employees are on paid administrative leave amid an investigation concerning “violations of city policies.”
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve said “it was incredibly hard,” to announce allegations of “compliance matters within the department.”
“They’re now being reviewed by the state,” Mayor Schieve said during a noontime press conference short on specifics. “This process will be fair, it will be independent and it will go wherever the facts lead.” Exact details were not given.
An agreement has been made with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to assist with “executive roles” during the Nevada Department of Public Safety investigation. The county's emergency replacement services will be paid by the City of Reno.
“The rank and file know what to do on a daily basis,” City Manager Jackie Bryant said, before adding later “it’s upsetting to say the least.”
Nance has been police chief since 2023.
