Jamie Peek Out at City of Reno as Karma Box Controversies Deepen

Jamie Peek who worked closely with the troubled Karma Box non profit as a city of Reno employee listed as a Housing Coordinator with the Housing and Neighborhood Development Department is no longer a city employee.

"Jamie Peek is no longer employed with the City of Reno,” the City of Reno wrote to Our Town Reno today.

“As this is a confidential personnel matter, we are unable to comment further. Ongoing housing stability projects and activities will be reassigned among existing staff to ensure continuity of services.

Arrest inquiries can be directed to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office,” the statement indicated.

Peek has been listed as a co-defendant in a case involving Jessica Hillman, a Karma Box employee who was arrested last week and remains in custody on a $100,000 bail bond amount facing charges of exploiting an older or vulnerable person, embezzlement, isolation of an older or vulnerable person and falsely obtaining money, property or labor.

Two other former Karma Box employees are currently in custody, one on domestic battery charges and the other for pistol whipping, while the non profit will soon no longer be operating the Safe Camp at the Cares Campus with that contract now going to RISE.
