Frontrunner in Reno Mayoral Race Kate Marshall Has More Money On Hand as November Campaign Looms Ahead
The latest fundraising numbers are in in the Reno mayoral race, and these show favorite Kate Marshall has more money in her coffers at this point, even though she had less money coming in than her challenger Kathleen Taylor.
Marshall has more individual donations, union backing and money from different PACs to Taylor’s contributions from developers, builders and contractors, while both spent heavily on political strategy groups based in the Washington D.C. area and elsewhere.
Marshall got 44.85% of the vote in the June primary to Taylor’s 18.98%, meaning the former lieutenant governor needs marginal support from the Eddie Lorton and Devon Reese camps, as well as from those who didn’t vote in the primary, which is highly likely to push her to victory come November.
Council member Taylor, who has the backing of some in the pro development, all growth, business as usual camp, has an uphill climb especially with her pro data center voting, which has become unpopular for many on both the right and left of the ideological spectrum.
According to the latest Contributions and Expenses Report for the period from April to June 30th, Taylor has $18K on hand, accounting for previous cycles, having had $190K in contributions in the latest period with $300K in expenses.
Frontrunner Kate Marshall has 41K on hand, having spent $299K in this latest period, with $129K in contributions.
