Woman Killed in Devastating Hawk Fire, While Two Relatives Suffer Injuries

"The beloved Mother to my WHOLE family just passed away from this STUPID FIRE… Please pray for my family," Stephanie wrote to us earlier today asking us to share this tribute poster with beautiful photos of her late mother Aide Medina Valiente, reported as 83, killed due to the Hawk Fire in the Red Rock area.

"My sister is also in surgery. The worst fire we have EVER SEEN," she added.

Another relative, a man, also has burn injuries.

We had contacted the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office earlier today, which had no account of Valiente's death, but tragically it was confirmed later in the day by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The three family relatives had been airlifted to the UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

A gofundme which includes photos of the terrible burns has been started for the one male survivor here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/aid-for-juans-fathers-recovery-and-new-start

"My father was 1 of the 3 relatives severely impacted by the Hawk Fire on Saturday, August 22nd," Juan Lopez writes.

"On Sunday morning, approximately 3:00 a.m., he was transported to the University of California, Davis Medical Center for treatment of his burns.

As a result of the fire, my father lost his entire belongings, including his trailer, clothing, and dogs.

I am seeking help for him so he can have a place to stay and clothes. All proceeds will go directly toward his financial needs to get him the things he has lost during the fire."
